Top Tips

We are experts in static caravans and lodges, here are some of our top tips to help you with your search.

Choosing between buying new or used….

It depends on how much you want to spend, but with a new model you have the back up of a manufacturer’s warranty and that excitement of you being the first to use it.

If you choose a new caravan or lodge you will also have a full new pitch licence agreement – check with the park as to how long it is. It should always be at least 10 years, some parks now offer 20 years initial term on a static caravan and much longer on a lodge.

If you can afford it most people choose new. However, many people start off with a used model, then perhaps upgrade to a new model later. If buying used check what the situation is regarding any defects.

The best way to find the right park…

Decide on the area of the country first. Remember that the drive needs to be comfortable for regular visits; for most people this is under two hours. What type of park do you want – lively or peaceful and quiet? Take your time and make the right decision. Do your research, make a shortlist, then arrange to visit.

Try to choose a park that is a member of the British Holiday & Home Parks Association, as that is a sign of a park operator with high standards.

And take time to speak to a few existing caravan owners, you will find most people are only too happy to share their experiences.

There’s so much choice – let us help guide you on the way…

Yes, there’s lots of choice, so you need to do a bit of thinking about what you are looking for or you can get very confused!

Once you have thought about the area you would like to be, the next step is to decide on a budget. You may be in the fortunate position of being able to buy from your savings, but if you need to arrange finance most parks will be able to help you with this.

Prices range widely from under £10,000 for a smaller or older model – up to over £200,000 for a new luxury lodge in a prime location. So there is something to suit most people’s budget.

You will find that parks have more available than those listed on this website, so once you have a short list of parks go along and see what suits your needs best.

Visiting the park and having a look at what’s available and the facilities is recommended, most parks will give you a guided tour and allow you to use all the facilities on your visit.

Choose the right number of bedrooms …

Do you want 2 or 3 Bedrooms?

This is one of your important decisions. Remember that 3 bedrooms give you more sleeping options but will make other areas of your caravan smaller so only go for 3 bedrooms if you are going to use them. Most people opt for 2 bedrooms so they get more space in the main bedroom and throughout the caravan.

But if you are thinking of letting out your caravan, 3 bedrooms is usually the wise choice as it will appeal to more people and usually rent for a higher tariff.

You pays your money and makes your choice as they say!
